Our Safety and Accident Investigation MSc allows you to receive an internationally recognised qualification in the field of accident investigation. The majority of students join this course with the intention of receiving a qualification that will allow them to further their career development in accident investigation or other safety related areas of the transport industry.
We have been a centre of excellence in the field of accident investigation for over 40 years, having undertaken our first accident investigation course, in cooperation with the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch, in 1977. The high quality of our research and training in aircraft accident investigation has been recognised by being awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2011 – the highest award a UK academic institution can receive. This course will provide you with academically recognised, high standard qualification and industry leading training in how to undertake safety-based investigations.

Admission Requirements
We welcome applications from talented individuals of all backgrounds and each application is considered on its individual merit. Usually applicants must hold:
- A UK first or second class undergraduate degree with honours, as a minimum, or equivalent international qualification.
Ideally applicants will have studied in a safety, engineering, transport management, human factors or psychology based relevant discipline.
- Candidates are required to submit an essay(s) for acceptance
