Experienced faculty and state-of-the-art facilities make Dalhousie's Faculty of Agriculture in Truro, N.S., the ideal place to study Animal Science. It’s more than just a school. It’s a real-world environment where students put theory into practice.

The Animal Science major is designed to give students the scientific foundation required to understand and work with animals in a variety of contexts. That foundation begins with the first-year courses that form the BSc (Agriculture) core and continues in second, third and fourth year with more specialized courses.

Graduates leave the program with an understanding of how animals work, as well as the practical experience to work with them.

Sample courses:

  • Mammalian Physiology
  • Animal Nutrition
  • Domestic Animal Behaviour

In third or fourth year, Animal Science majors have the opportunity to select and conduct their own research project. Combined with Humanities and Social Science electives, these courses are the basis of a well-rounded education that prepares students for a wide range of careers.
