The M.S. in Art Therapy Counseling is designed to be completed in two academic years including summer internship but part-time study is possible which will increase the length of the program. Students with background deficiencies and those beginning the program in the spring semester should plan for extra time to complete degree requirements. Direct art therapy experience under A.T.R. supervision is required in Art Therapy Internship. The combined experience must total at least 750 supervised hours of internship which may be divided over two or more semesters at approved sites. Internship often begins spring or summer semester of the first year. Students are required to work with at least two different populations for a minimum of 100 hours. A student must be a degree candidate before enrolling in internship.

Applicants must a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a GPA of not less than 2.5 in the last 60 semester of study. International students must have minimum score of 90 (internet based), 575 (written test) on TOEFL; a score of 6.5 on the IELTS; a score of 53 on the PTE.
