The comprehensive full-time educational program, delivered entirely in English, comprises a core set of fundamental disciplines alongside the selection of elective courses. This Master’s program is designed for students aiming to develop  their statistical knowledge and credentials by obtaining a graduate degree in Applied Statistics, irrespective of their primary field of study. Whether you come from a background in computer science, social sciences, humanities, our program empowers you to forge a successful career in industries and research fields that are increasingly reliant on data-derived insights. Given the focus of the International Laboratory for Applied Network Research, an emphasis on network analytic methods will further enrich the program's offerings, considering that networks have recently evolved into a popular source of data across various fields. In addition, students also have an opportunity to enroll in a one-year traineeship at the ANR-lab's academic partner organization: University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). The knowledge and skills acquired by graduates of the program will render them adept practitioners capable of applying advanced, intricate data analysis techniques within a range of organizations. This encompasses not only commercial enterprises operating in diverse industries such as banking, insurance, consulting, IT, medicine, and pharmacy but also extends to research institutions encompassing sociology and marketing. This program provides a holistic data analysis approach across different domains. As an integral part of the program, students from varied disciplines can collaborate to solve practical analytical challenges—those inclined towards mathematics can comprehend sociology and the object of research, while those grounded in humanities can cultivate their skill set and develop a profound grasp of the statistical processes constituting the taught data analysis curriculum.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have 3 tracks: (general track) Network Analysis; Business-Analytics; Computational Social Sciences (PhD track).
At the moment, we offer only two specialized areas - business analytics and computational social sciences. No, you don't have to choose one of them, because you can stay in the "general" track (a.k.a. "network track"). This is a general MASNA education that has been in the whole program for three years. You will have access to a wide range of courses, including network analytics. However, our students are free to take courses on other tracks or as part of their track, but they are not enrolled, one of the main advantages of our program.
This track will allow students to acquire the necessary skills and competencies to build academic careers and become successful researchers. When choosing this track, students will not only get extensive knowledge about modern methods of data analysis. Still, they will learn how to formulate a scientific problem and research issues competently, create a research design, set goals and objectives for their future research, choose the right method of data analysis, and, most importantly, model complex social phenomena. We focus on preparing students for leading Ph.D. programmes at world-wide prestigious universities.
This track will allow students to acquire techniques and skills for employment in business companies and corporations. We will learn to work with modern methods of data analysis, ways of machine learning, develop programming skills in different languages. Students will learn how to use modern approaches and methods of Data Science, research and in-depth data analysis (Data Mining & Deep Learning), Machine Learning, neural networks and Bayesian statistics, work with big data (Big Data); and work with different packages and databases for data analysis: R, Python, SAS, STATA, Orange, Lisrel, MPlus, Pajek, Gephi, Visone, Vertica, SQL, LaTex, and others.
Admission to the Master's programme "Applied Statistics with Network Analysis" is carried out through competitive selection based on the documents submitted by candidates in the portfolio.
