The purpose of this programme is to prepare students for the future work in academia, government agencies, private companies, and centers for economic analysis. Graduates of the applied economics track are trained to analyze and forecast consequences of decisions in business and public policy. Research track provides thorough knowledge of economic theory and methods to carry out advanced theoretical and empirical research and prepares students for the future academic career. Students of the Research Track receive intensive training in theoretical economics. The majority of the Research Track alumni choose an academic career, either to continue study at the HSE University Ph.D. program, since the Research Track is an excellent foundation for this or to continue to top Ph.D. programs abroad or in Russia.
