About Imam Malik College

Imam Malik College for Sharia and Law

Overview:

Imam Malik College for Sharia and Law was founded in 2004 through the efforts of Dr. Issa bin Abdullah Al-Humairi, the College's CEO, with the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It was established as part of an academic partnership with Al-Azhar University.

In 2008, the College received its license from the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Research. Two years later, its undergraduate programs—Bachelor of Sharia and Bachelor of Law—were accredited by the Ministry.

In recognition of the College’s growing reputation, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued Decree No. (10) of 2011, officially designating it as a national non-profit institution under the administrative and financial oversight of the Government of Dubai. This legal framework was further strengthened in 2014 by a governance decision from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

The College expanded its academic offerings in 2016, securing accreditation for its master’s programs in Fiqh and Its Fundamentals, Private Law, and Public Law. This growth continued with the introduction of a Master’s in Quranic and Hadith Sciences in 2022.

To enhance student opportunities, the College has built partnerships with leading institutions in the job market, providing practical training and professional experience. It has also established academic and research collaborations with educational institutions both in the UAE and internationally.

The success of the College’s programs is evident in the achievements of its graduates, as many of them hold prominent positions in various sectors, including Sharia and civil judiciary, legal consultancy, fatwa issuance, academic and legal research, religious guidance, notarial services, advocacy, and diplomacy. Moreover, a significant number of alumni have pursued advanced studies in Sharia and Law.

The College follows a strategic planning approach in all academic, research, and administrative activities to ensure continuous growth and sustainability. It has implemented the following strategic plans:

  • 2007–2012 Strategic Plan
  • 2013–2018 Strategic Plan
  • 2019–2023 Strategic Plan
