The IU Online Master of Arts for Teachers in Chemistry combines coursework in education and chemistry to prepare you to be a dual-credit instructor at the high school and community college levels. The educational component of the program teaches you how to apply the science and art of teaching to college-level instruction. Coursework covers instruction and curriculum, assessment, diversity and inclusive teaching, and research. As a student in the chemistry component of the program, you study the chemical processes and principles of organic and inorganic substances in everyday life. You develop a dialogue with multiple sub-disciplines of chemistry, and you adopt a methodological approach to problem solving. You will learn how to break down chemical concepts and processes, design experiments and assignments to teach chemical concepts, and critically analyze chemistry-related press releases and news.
