The program takes a rigorously multidisciplinary approach to Economics offering students substantial number of political, historic and cultural competences. At the same time the students have enough flexibility to take field electives tailoring their professional goals and career ambitions. During the first year all the students study at MGIMO in Russian and continue their study at UIBE for the second year in English, where they will be able to complete their internship. Graduates of the program will be capable of applied research of international economic issues and will be able to build and test economic models on the basis of comprehensive economics tools. Masters will be able to advance professionally being equipped of decision-making skills while working out national economic strategies and broadening cooperation with foreign partners.

MGIMO also offers a PhD track as part of its graduate training. Full-time postgraduate studies take three to four years to complete. MGIMO has its own autonomous Dissertation Councils and the right to confer academic degrees. Currently available are 26 PhD training programs.
