The MAT is a degree program designed for professional educators who seek to enhance their competence in the field of education, to improve their instructional skills and methodology, as well as to focus on teaching a particular subject matter taught in either the elementary or the secondary school.

Currently, English is the only subject matter offered by the department. In case of undergraduate deficiencies, students will be required to take prerequisite courses specified by the department.

Middle East University offers undergraduate degrees in Biology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Graphic Design & Digital Media, Education, English, Religion, and Theology. Each program is about 94-97 semester credits, with the exception of the Religion and Theology degrees (112 and 126 credits respectively). A freshman year may be required depending on the student's high school preparation. Students completing the biomedical emphasis of the Biology degree are prepared to enter medical school. Graduates receive the knowledge base and practical experience necessary to obtain a career in their chosen field with the option to continue on to complete a master's degree at MEU. 

Middle East University offers graduate programs in Business Administration, Computer Science, Education, English, Islamic Studies, and Teaching. Programs average 36-39 semester credits (44 for the Islamic Studies) and take 2-4 years to complete depending on the number of courses taken per semester. Graduates are competently equipped to lead in their area of specialty and continue on to doctoral programs should they so desire.
