The Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE) is a program that deals with the development and application of devices and systems involving the flow of electrons or other carriers of electric charge, in a vacuum, in gaseous media, in plasma, in semiconductors, in solid-state and/or in similar devices, including, but not limited to, applications involving optical, electromagnetic and other energy forms when transduced or converted into electronic signals.
The ECE curriculum consists of a total of 182 units (lecture and laboratory), which can be completed in four (4) years by a full-time student on a trimestral basis. The first four (4) terms focus on building the foundation of engineering mathematics and sciences. Professional courses start by 5th term, which focus on training the students with the general skills and expertise needed of an ECE graduate such us Electronic Devices and Circuits, Signal Spectra and Signal Processing, Engineering Data Analysis, Principles of Communications System, Logic Circuits and Design, Electronic Circuits Analysis and Design, Microprocessor & Microcontroller Systems and Design, Modulation and Decoding Techniques, Trans-mission Media and Antenna Systems and Feedback and Control Systems to name a few. By the 10th term, students are expected to choose their career tracks. The career tracks will prepare them in the kind of job that they want to take, hence choosing the right company for On-the-job Training which happens in the final term. Career tracks is also designed to guide the students in choosing their area of concerns in the culminating research and design activities.
There are two professional tracks available:
TRACK 1: Microelectronics Engineering
TRACK 2: Instrumental and Control Engineering
The curriculum also give much importance in preparing the students in their research and design culmination by equipping them with statistical knowledge, and skills and tools in data analysis. Design thinking process is also given importance in the Technopreneurship class. These are taken prior their research methods and capstone design project courses.
General education courses are also embedded in the curriculum to enhance the knowledge and skills of the students in communications, literature and arts, ethics, and contemporary issues.
