This course explores a range of geographical issues important to the physical environment. More specialised than the BSc (Hons) Geography route, you will focus on environmental issues, including scientific knowledge of the Earth’s surface, its spatial variation, and its evolution over time. You’ll investigate physical and biotic aspects of the environment, including land use, water resources, and their management. You’ll also examine issues of global concern, including climate change, resource management, globalisation and international food security.


This course has been designed for anyone interested in the Earth’s surface processes and the physical environment that surround us. More specialised than the BSc (Hons) Geography route, you will focus on a range of environmental issues, including scientific knowledge of the Earth's surface, it's spatial variation, and its evolution over time. Some of the key issues that you will have the opportunity to study include the climate emergency, the global significance of dryland environments, and how to use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing to investigate environmental change, ensuring that you graduate with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in a variety of fields.
