The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition contains two very important disciplines that complement each other and ultimately contribute to providing healthy and nutritionally adequate food as well as safe and sound food. The department is interested in studying the development and production of high-quality food. In order to achieve this, the department teaches courses in food processing and preservation, nutritional health affairs, and other courses that help provide safe and sound food. The department also teaches human nutrition courses that are concerned with covering the nutritional needs of the individual during Different stages of life and is also concerned with spreading awareness and food culture in the community. In addition, the department focuses on nutrition in various diseases and teaches students how to plan therapeutic meals according to the highest international standards. The department is also interested in providing students with the necessary skills to work in the nutrition departments in hospitals. The department's master's program has been accredited in the fields of food science and human nutrition.  Graduates of the department are distinguished by their ability to work efficiently and effectively in many fields, especially feeding patients in hospitals and food factories. They are also distinguished by their ability to follow up the conversation in the specialization for the benefit of society. The department represents the first desire of the students of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine because of the increased demand for its graduates in the labor market in both the private sector and the public sector. All graduates of the department are appointed upon their graduation in either sector.
