The department is interested in studying the areas of animal production such as nutrition, breeding, organ functions, care and production of animals and poultry. The department studies the genetic improvement of agricultural animals and poultry and devise strains suitable for the environmental conditions of the Kingdom, as well as studying modern methods for managing projects and farms of animal and poultry production. The department also aims to achieve educational and research goals that Serving development plans for livestock in the Kingdom. The department is mainly interested in graduating livestock researchers who are able to compete in the internal and external labor market and have the technical ability to manage and develop animal and poultry production projects. The department conducts research that contributes to the development of livestock in the Kingdom, in addition to its participation in serving the environment and society and finding appropriate solutions to emerging problems.  The department offers a master's degree postgraduate program in animal production and poultry production.
Fields that the graduate is expected to work in: 1. Agricultural research centers and stations at the Ministry of Agriculture, various agricultural directorates, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, city secretariats, and the Agricultural Development Fund. 2. Wildlife centers and reserves. 3. The Saudi Arabian Organization for Standardization and Metrology, the General Organization for Silos, Grains, Flour Mills, private animal feed factories, large commercial companies and farms for animal and poultry production.
