The MSc program in Accounting, Valuation & Financial Management provides you with relevant accounting and financial management knowledge and qualifies you for a career as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Management Consultant, Investment Banker, Business Controller, Financial Analyst or Auditor (for example).

As a graduate from the program, you will have a deep understanding of how financial and non-financial controls can be integrated and used for managing multinational companies from various industries, how large companies report to external share- and stakeholders and how those evaluate the financial and non-financial performance of companies in for example valuation settings.

Key topics include financial reporting principles, business control, capital budgeting, financial analysis and corporate valuation. In all our courses we take an analytical and international perspective. For example, in the financial reporting core courses we focus on the main concepts and principles that lie behind most international accounting standards such as IFRS. Consequently, the insights you get in the program remain valuable also when concrete financial standards change. We see accounting as a language you need to understand in order to properly analyze and understand a business corporation.

The first semester of the program is the same for all students and cover both the corporate and the market perspective of accounting. During the second semester, you will have the chance to choose four electives.

In the second year, you will write your Master thesis and you can choose to take more electives at SSE (including courses from the Sustainability or Data Analytics Track), the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SSES) or within the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM). Alternatively, you could apply for the Executive Trainee Module and gain hands-on experiences at one of our partner companies.

If you prefer to study abroad for one semester, you have the chance to apply for the CEMS Master in International Management, Wallenberg International Fellows Program or a regular student exchange with any of our partner universities.
