Overview

Swinburne is a world-class university creating social and economic impact through science, technology and innovation.

We create transformative learning experiences for our students, offering the opportunity to gain professional skills alongside technical and academic knowledge.

Engagement with industry and the community has always been a part of our story. For over 50 years, we have been partnering with leading Australian and global organisations to offer students authentic workplace experiences and career pathways.

By working on real industry projects and gaining the professional skills that put knowledge into practice, our students have the adaptability and sought-after experience they need to make a lasting impact on the workplaces of tomorrow.

Swinburne has secured its place among the world’s leading universities, ranked within the top three per cent of universities globally by QS, Times Higher Education and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

Our research strengths are internationally recognised across many fields, including astronomy and physics, engineering, materials science, computer science and information technology, design and innovation. We also have substantial capability and research excellence in neuroscience, mental health and the humanities and social sciences.

We have three Melbourne-based campuses: Hawthorn, Wantirna and Croydon. We also have a campus in Sarawak, Malaysia, and an office in Nanjing, China, which connect us to some of the fastest-growing regions of the world. In 2019, Swinburne unveiled new locations in Parramatta, Sydney, and Hanoi, Vietnam, each offering a suite of sought-after Swinburne courses.

As an early leader in international education and through our expertise in online education, Swinburne has made educational opportunities available to a new generation of learners through Swinburne Online and Open Universities Australia.

At Swinburne, we inspire students to realise their professional purpose by supporting them to take on the adventure of work, study and life.

Our students graduate with an entrepreneurial and enterprising mind-set, confident and ready to stride into the future.
