At its founding in 1955, TUIT was initially a small community of electrotechnical communications and science lovers eager to bring their knowledge to bear on the world. Today, TUIT has evolved into an educational behemoth, with some 2,000 faculty members and more than 26,067 undergraduate and graduate students. 
Today, TUIT’s motto of “Build future with digital education” has taken it far. Most university rankings place TUIT among the best universities in Uzbekistan, and famous alumni include Abdulla Aripov Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who graduated with a degree in electrotechnical communications engineering in 1983.

Education Cluster

University shows the cluster character including 6 branches, 14 professional technical colleges, 6 academic lyceums, and non-degree education centers. This means the university provides IT education for a variety of ages and knowledge groups.

TUIT has campuses in 6 different cities of Uzbekistan, which occupies an entire territory of the country with IT higher education and research. These cities are Samarkand, Karshi, Urgench, Nukus, Fergana, and Nurafshan

Teaching

TUIT is now an independent, coeducational endowed university organized into 9 faculties (Computer Engineering; Software Engineering; Cybersecurity; Telecommunication Technologies; Television technologies; Radio and Mobile Communication; Economics and Management it ICT; Vocational Education in ICT), and 62-degree  programs are taught in these faculties ;

For undergraduates, TUIT has a joint program with the Belarussian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. Based on the 2+2 scheme, the joint program offers major programs on Software engineering, Programmable mobile systems, and artificial intelligence.

For graduates, the university cooperates with the Klagenfurt University of Austria to create talents in both hardware and software of information and communication technologies.    

Student life

Student life at TUIT serves up opportunities to discover new interests and passions galore, through a wide diversity of social, political, religious, and cultural activities. TUIT has more than 70 clubs and societies, including engineering project teams, community service organizations, and charitable projects. Approximately 30 percent of TUIT undergraduates join a sports team, and with 33 variety sports, TUIT boasts one of the broadest intercollegiate athletic programs in the country.

Collaborations and international partnerships

The university established cooperation with 72 universities, 8 research centers, 14 enterprises, and organizations from 35 foreign countries (South Korea, Japan, Germany, France, the USA, India, etc.), and 94 cooperation agreements and a memorandum of understanding were signed on mutual understanding. Our students are crucial to our continued success and development and, along with our staff, they forge research links through regular travel and overseas exchanges.

TUIT offers 21 undergraduate degrees in a wide range of disciplines in information technologies (IT), from computer engineering to Economics in IT. Students can also study joint programs such as Information technologies and programming. 

Undergraduate degrees are usually four years in length and are taught inside the individual faculty to which students apply.

The admissions rate for TUIT is 15 percent which seems in high comparison with other universities in the country.

The application period runs during the summer for the following academic year. Applicants register to take a test and will know whether they have been successful by the end of the summer.

Terms at TUIT are actually shorter than at other Uzbekistan higher education institutions, and their total duration is generally equal to fifteen weeks.

Your qualifications must meet the university’s minimum admission requirements for:

  • senior secondary or post-secondary school qualifications (vocational education and training, associate diplomas or degrees or an approved tertiary preparation course)

Libraries and IT

As a student, you will have access to 5 libraries, which include a vast collection of printed and online volumes. You will also have access to 150,000 electronic journals and databases to support your research and studies.

Our campus is equipped with various computing networks, featuring open-access, School, and specialized computer labs. You will benefit from open-access computer labs, available 24 hours a day, located in key locations throughout the campus. In addition, our buildings have almost 100% WiFi coverage.

We also support different methods for remote access to university services, computers, and file stores, enabling you to work off-site while maintaining the necessary level of security. This provides you with the flexibility to work from anywhere, while still having access to essential resources and services.

Support for international students

The TUIT’s international office – provides support and assistance to all foreign applicants and students on a variety of topics, such as visas and working in Uzbekistan, and offers appointments and drop-in sessions each week. They also arrange welcome and orientation activities and social events throughout the year.

Accommodation 

Our student accommodation is self-catered and available across a range of halls and flats. Our flats come in various sizes, with three to six study bedrooms, and are conveniently located within easy reach of the University's buildings and the city center.

We provide a guarantee of accommodation to all new single foreign students, ensuring that you have a place to stay during your studies. For students from within Uzbekistan, we strive to offer University accommodation, but please note that we cannot guarantee such offers.
