On February 1, 2003, the Tashkent Institute of Electrotechnical Communication was renamed the Faculty of "Economics and Management" in connection with the name of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies. Graduates of the faculty work in the planning and economic departments of the communications sector, production and technical services, joint-stock and private enterprises, design organizations and the social sector, as well as in the transport sector. Since December 26, 2022, the faculty has been headed by Doctor of Economics Saitkamolov, son of Mukhamadkhoja Sobirkhoja.

The admissions rate for TUIT is 15 percent which seems in high comparison with other universities in the country.
The application period runs during the summer for the following academic year. Applicants register to take a test and will know whether they have been successful by the end of the summer.
