The pandemic that is devastating our country has exposed the precariousness of the health sector. A fragmented system that already had serious problems and that was unable to provide decent health coverage to the Peruvian population, despite the significant injection of resources in recent years, has been overwhelmed as a result of the health crisis. This reality will require rethinking the health system both at the macro level (policy level) and at the micro level (institutional level). To achieve a successful transformation, it will require the participation of leaders who know the sector, who are competent, who have solid values and who also have the courage to take on the challenge of breaking organizational inertia and the old management paradigms to achieve to raise the performance of the fragmented and inequitable Peruvian health system to international standards.
