The PhD in Islamic Studies program is designed to produce scholars capable of conducting an extensive and original research on the formation of Islamic discourse and dynamics of Muslim societies either in the classical or contemporary era through interdisciplinary, multi-interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary perspectives. Graduates of the PhD in Islamic studies program are expected to have excellent substantive and theoretical knowledge of Islamic Studies and social sciences and demonstrate an excellent command of research skills required to produce independent and original research in the subject areas of their scholarly interests.

The following is a list of requirements and materials required for a complete application for a UIII Doctoral (PhD) Degree:
A Master’s degree from an accredited higher education institution.
Outstanding master’s certificate or equivalent qualifications in the relevant fields with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.5 on a scale of a maximum of 4.0.
Have strong leadership qualities and academic background.
Have good co-curricular and social activities record.
Apply as a full-time Doctoral (PhD) degree student at UIII.
Have an English language proficiency as shown by a certificate in the form of IELTS or TOEFL. The English proficiency requirement does not apply to applicants who speak English as their native language, mother tongue, or first language or those who graduate from universities that use English as the language of instruction or medium of learning.
Applicants who choose to apply for a PhD program at the Faculty of Islamic Studies must have Arabic language proficiency, as shown by a TOAFL certificate. The Arabic proficiency requirement does not apply to applicants who speak Arabic as their native language, mother tongue, or first language or those who graduate from universities that use Arabic as the language of instruction or medium of learning.
Submit a brief research proposal for the PhD Dissertation.
Submit an academic writing sample, research paper relevant to your field, or article recently published in an academic journal.
