B.S. in Professional Studies - Human Resource Administration

The Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies is a career-focused, degree-completion program that refines student skills and abilities for application in a broad range of professions. The Professional Studies program is offered entirely online and is perfect for the busy adult learner with its flexible scheduling and supportive staff. The Human Resource Administration concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Professional Studies degree will help the student cultivate a work environment that steers the organization toward its objective. The areas of employee relations, recruitment, staffing, benefits, outsourcing and safety will be explored to improve the work experience for all employees. Online courses follow an accelerated 8-week format. Courses are asynchronous; accessible anytime from anywhere. All students are required to participate in an online orientation prior to the beginning of the program. During the orientation, students learn to navigate the Canvas course learning system, to utilize strategies for becoming a successful online learner, and to access other University resources. The Human Resource Administration concentration will prepare graduates to: Evaluate the effectiveness of recruiting methods and the validity of various selection procedures Design and execute a training project using the appropriate theories and facilitation skills Design competitive pay structures and performance-based incentive systems Explain employee and employer rights and obligations in a collective bargaining situation Design human resource policies and practice that comply with labor and employment legislation and regulations
