The civil engineering department is a recent addition to CE. The establishment of this department came in response to market demand, as the entire Kingdom is undergoing a huge urban construction boom.

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering.

The Civil Engineering Department at UBT offers five specialized tracks that prepare students for diverse career paths in the field:

  • General Track: Provides a broad foundation across all civil engineering disciplines, equipping graduates with versatile skills applicable to a wide range of projects.
  • Structural Engineering Track: Focuses on the analysis and design of structural systems such as buildings, bridges, dams, high-rise towers, and commercial complexes, ensuring they are safe, stable, and efficient.
  • Construction Engineering Track: Emphasizes the planning, scheduling, and management of construction projects, with a strong focus on supervising execution, quality control, and coordination among stakeholders.
  • Transportation Engineering Track: Covers the design, planning, and optimization of transportation systems including roads, highways, and urban traffic networks to ensure safe and efficient mobility.
  • Environmental Engineering Track: Addresses the design and implementation of sustainable systems for water and wastewater treatment, solid waste management, and environmental protection in alignment with global sustainability goals.

Each track is tailored to meet national and international standards, offering students practical and theoretical knowledge aligned with market demands and the Vision 2030 of the Kingdom.
