The knowledge and techniques that you will apply in your design-build challenges are gained in workshops/seminars and practical/lab based modules that are specific to Mechanical Engineering. Design-build-test challenges start with a design brief, to which you must apply the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) engineering cycle. In your first year of study, you will take part in a team CDIO challenge with other students from the Mechanical Engineering cohort. The second year CDIO challenge is an interdisciplinary team challenge, where you will tackle your design brief with students from other engineering cohorts. In the final year, you will work on an individual project and present your work technically to other engineers and to a non-technical audience.
