An astounding number of famous business people and political figures have degrees in economics. It is not surprising: the analytical and communications skills you acquire as an Economics student are highly valued by employers and can propel any career forward. UFV's Economics program gives you the option to complete a major or minor as part of a Bachelor of Arts. Not only does the program allow you to develop a firm grounding in modern economic theory and sound knowledge of finance and accounting, but it also helps you hone your capacity for independent thought and deepen your problem-solving and computer skills. By working on real economic problems using real-world data sets, you learn to collect, download and process data; check data quality and consistency; use statistical software to understand and analyze data; and present research results compellingly. Small class sizes allow for strong interaction with faculty, who are active in research. To further enhance your learning, you also have the option to participate in Co-operative Education, which allows you to combine academic studies with supervised, paid work experience in a career-related field.
