Offered once every two years, UFV's Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Mentorship is designed for certified K-12 educators who are interested in pursuing leadership and mentorship roles.
Taught by faculty with scholarship and practical expertise in leading and mentoring, this six-course, 30-credit cohort program spans two years.
Courses are delivered through small group seminars, full cohort classes, blended learning activities, independent study, and fieldwork (site-based research based on an area of inquiry related to leadership and mentorship).
In the first year, you are introduced to the theory and practice of leadership and mentorship. You draw upon your personal and professional experiences as well as prepared cases of leadership and mentorship practices from literature and the field. You also delve deeper into the forms of communication and interactions that serve to foster professional communities and learn to cultivate and articulate your identity as a leader and a mentor.
Halfway through the program, you begin to formulate questions for further research, based upon your unique school and district context. You explore and learn to apply quantitative, mixed, and qualitative research methods through the development of a field-based research study driven by your own interests and needs.
The program culminates in a capstone project consisting of a major paper and presentation in the final term.
The UFV Master of Education in Education Leadership and Mentorship qualifies you for a Teacher Qualification Service (TQS) upgrade and prepares you for doctoral-level studies.
