Do you want to build new compounds and materials, develop new energy solutions or make use of carbon dioxide? Are you interested in researching diagnostic methods and biological applications? Would you like to explore new possibilities in the circular economy and the use of biomaterials?
In the Master’s Programme in Chemistry, you design your own study path from a wide range of courses in modern chemistry, taught through a research-based approach. You gain in-depth knowledge and learn experimental research methods in many fields, including analytical chemistry, synthesis and catalysis, radiochemistry, polymer chemistry and biobased materials, spectroscopy and computational chemistry — with the option to specialise in green chemistry.
Chemistry is a fundamental natural science with applications across all areas of life and the economy. Chemists work in healthcare, research and development, regulatory affairs, environmental analysis, quality control, forensics, commerce, and academia. In Finland, the chemical industry is also one of the largest export sectors and a major employer.
