Entry into this degree requires a recognised bachelor's degree with an equivalent of a UNSW 65 weighted average mark (WAM). Entry isn’t dependent upon a degree related to the creative disciplines, given that the programs aim to enable practitioners from a wide range of industry sectors to integrate visualisation, simulation and immersive environments into their work contexts.

Entry without a Bachelors Degree or lower WAM

If you do not have a Bachelors degree or who have a WAM equivalent between 60-64.9% you may apply for RPL for admission into the Graduate Certificate based upon at least 5 years industry experience. Given the transdisciplinary nature of the program industry experience may be in any discipline. You will be asked to submit a digital portfolio (PDF, website etc.) containing:

  • A CV detailing at least 5 years industry experience
  • 5-10 examples of professional achievement (examples of design work, one page descriptions of initiatives you have led, patents, awards, etc.)
  • A 2 page statement which explains:    
  • your specific strengths and achievements in your field
  • How you see visualisation, simulation and immersive design impacting their discipline
  • Your motivations for joining the program, and how you believe the program will enhance their career
Your portfolio will be assessed by Art & Design staff and credit granted upon demonstration of learning outcome equivalence. Students in this category who complete the Graduate Certificate with a WAM of 65 may apply to articulate to the Master of Simulation, and Immersive technologies.
