This postgraduate course is designed for those who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of history across a range of periods, regions and theoretical perspectives. The History MA provides you with opportunities to study the subject at an advanced level.
You will have the chance to study a range of periods and topics, from Early Modern England to Fascism in modern Britain, from the Decline of the Aristocracy to warfare and memories of war and the role of history in the construction of British national identity.
While studying for your masters in history, you are encouraged to think not only about the diversity of the past, but also how history itself is constructed.

We also welcome applications from ‘non-standard entrants’, including those with experiential learning. Interviewing all applicants ensures that each has the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to complete the programme successfully.

The University of Northampton’s undergraduate portfolio encompasses approximately 170 courses, including HNDs, foundation degrees, single honours degrees and the most popular – joint honours programs.
These range over a wide range of disciplines, including computing, games, visual and performance arts, engineering, fashion, journalism, media and performance, business, law, education, history, nursing and health-related disciplines, sport, psychology and criminology.

Tuition fees
Tuition fees are identical for all courses and are set at £12,500 per academic year in 2019-2020 – with just a few unavoidable exceptions: Nursing (£15,500), Occupational Therapy and Podiatry (£13,500 in both cases).

Tuition fees

The University of Northampton charges identical fees for all its postgraduate courses - £12,750 per year in 2019-2020 – with only one exception being the Master of Business Administration (MBA) which is £13,500.
