Comedy and satire play an important role in commenting on, and critiquing, the world. Students may specialize in one of two pathways: writing or writing & performing. In both pathways, students will examine how comedy and satire have evolved across time-periods and cultures; developing their historical, social, political and cultural knowledge of these art forms. Students will also gain practical skills including writing, performing, monologue, experimental performance, and live art. The course is designed for students wishing to work professionally as performers, stand ups, writers, directors, and producers for stage, screen and radio as well as scholars, critics, journalists and teachers.
