Our liberal arts major program provides a cross-disciplinary academic degree for students interested in cultivating a comprehensive understanding of the liberal arts or pursuing a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Liberal arts majors choose one of 14 unique concentrations from within seven overarching disciplines. Our Curriculum The liberal arts major are designed to give a comprehensive background evenly distributed among all disciplines: fine arts; language; religion, philosophy, and culture; history; English composition and literature; social science; human development; mathematics; and natural science. The program includes three education courses for teacher education students. Liberal arts majors with other career goals may select from these or different courses to complete degree requirements. If students are interested in a single subject credential, a concentration in the single subject is suggested. All credential candidates will be required to take the CSET examination. Students may choose one of the following concentrations: Fine arts (art, music, or theatre emphasis) Human development (family studies, psychology, or sociology emphasis) Language (Spanish, literature, or writing and rhetoric emphasis) Social science (history or social science emphasis) Mathematics Science Sports medicine/physical education
