Our international studies major are one of the most viable ways to prepare for the ever-increasing international opportunities at the beginning of the 21st century. Students choose from eight specializations, offering flexibility to those interested in particular regions of the world. How does one deal with such difficult issues as ethnonationalism, terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, human rights, and the role of the United Nations? The Political Studies specialization is designed for students who are interested in the study of government and governing procedures, whether these "governments" are sovereign states, international organizations, multinational corporations, or sub-units of political systems. Students who complete this specialization will be prepared for further graduate study in international studies or entry-level positions in the public or private sectors, such as the Foreign Service, management, or banking.
