Saint Louis University's Master of Public Health/Medical Doctor dual degree program is conducted under the joint auspices of the College for Public Health and Social Justice and the School of Medicine.
The M.P.H. is offered as an accelerated program that can be completed in three consecutive semesters (summer, fall, spring) devoted entirely to M.P.H. coursework. The program requires completion of professional medical school requirements and the fulfillment of a complete M.P.H. with public health practice concentration (42 credits), which may include up to six credits of coursework from the School of Medicine M.D. degree requirements.
Students interested in earning an M.D./M.P.H. apply to the College for Public Health and Social Justice during the first two years of medical studies. Upon successfully completing the first three years of medical studies, including all required clinical clerkships and steps one and two of the United States Medical License Examination, the student enters one year of public health studies. Students then return to the School of Medicine to complete the fourth year.
Saint Louis University’s College for Public Health and Social Justice is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME).
