The department began its journey in October 2010 with fourteen students in the 1st intake. Since then 34 intakes have been admitted (up to January 2022) in the Department of Textile Engineering. Students of nineteen intakes have completed their graduations (up to October 2021).
Salient Features
B.Sc. in Textile Engineering program prepares today’s students into tomorrow’s engineers. The program has the built-in system of orientation for the graduates to keep themselves updated with the rapid changes in the industrial sector.
Credit Transfer
A student may transfer his credits earned at a previous institution/university to pursue a BUBT degree. For this purpose transcripts from all previously attended institutions/universities must be submitted. Transferred students are expected to have at least 2.50 CGPA for undergraduate and graduate programs on a 4-point scale in all university level courses to be considered for admission at BUBT. In the required courses the students must have B grade or above for credit transfer. Catalogues, official transcripts and testimonials from previously attended university/universities must be attached with the application for admission. Equivalence of courses for each transferred student will be determined by the university. The residency requirement is that at least 60 percent of credits and internship/project of 3 to 4 credits for a degree must be earned at BUBT.

Admission Requirements
Entry Requirements:
1. For the HSC or equivalent level students:
GPA of at least 2.50 or 2nd Division in both the SSC and the HSC or equivalent examinations; or
GPA of at least 2.00 either in the SSC or the HSC examination, but the total GPA in both the examinations combined must be at least 6.00; or
'O ' Level with at least 5 subjects and 'A' Level with at least 2 subjects. In these two examinations out of 7 (seven) subjects, a student must have passed 4 (four) subjects with at least B grade or GPA of 4.00 and in 3 (three) subjects with at least C grade or GPA of 3.5.
North American High School Diploma or International Baccalaureate, or its equivalent.
In the case of sons/daughters of Freedom Fighters, a total GPA of at least 5.00 in both the SSC and the HSC Examinations. But the official proof/certificate of the Father /Mother as a Freedom Fighter must be submitted.
Students must have passed the HSC/A-Level with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
2. For the Diploma (Engineering) students:
Three/ Four years Diploma degree in Textile Engineering or in any other Engineering disciplines from Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.0. Or,
A Diploma recognized by BTEB with a CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.00 in any engineering discipline from any recognized institute.
Admission Procedure for B.Sc. in Textile Engineering:
Admission form and prospectus are available in the admission office/ reception desk. After the verification of necessary documents, the applicants are allowed to deposit the admission fees and sign on the application form to complete the admission process.
The following documents are needed at the time of admission:
Two passport size color photographs (studio lab print with white background for ID card purpose).
Photocopies of SSC/O-Level, HSC/A-Level, Bachelor degree or equivalent examination certificates and mark sheets/transcripts and birth certificate/ national ID card (one copy each).
Original certificates, mark sheets/transcripts and birth certificate /national ID card must be produced for verification by the officer of BUBT in charge of admission.
