Society depends on products like foods, cosmetics and electronic equipment, as well as essential processes like the production of useful chemicals from renewable resources, energy production and storage and good waste management. Also think of medication and drug delivery.
People often take these everyday products and processes for granted and are unaware of the fact that fundamental molecular knowledge and outstanding engineering skills are of pivotal importance to them.
Chemical Engineering is the key discipline in the development of such chemical products and processes to fulfil society’s current and future needs, and covers a wide range of subjects from the molecular level to large-scale chemical manufacturing processes.
