The Law & Society Qualification Year offers a focused first year of study with all the courses you need to gain entry to the Law and Society program upon completion. Honours Law & Society (LASO) is a highly competitive program. Although spaces are limited at this time, those who do not meet our entry requirements still have the option to pursue studies at York through our Law and Society Qualification Year program. This alternative has been created to accommodate student applicants with good academic standing.  

The Honours Law and Society Qualification Year is a pathway to entry into the Honours Law & Society program after your first year of study, conditional upon meeting the following requirements:  

  • successful completion of 24 credits, including LASO Qualification Year required courses
  • achieving a final cumulative GPA of 5.0 (C+)
