The MFAc is the only program in Canada to offer a specialized focus in financial accountability and consists of four dynamic and interrelated conceptual cornerstones: (1) Corporate Ethics; (2) Regulative Standards and Legislative Requirements; (3) Effective Information Systems; and (4) Transparency in Reporting (the program’s ultimate goal). The cornerstones are well reflected in core courses and optional courses to be taught by nationally and/or internationally recognized faculty members and industry experts.
The program is also distinguished by its orientation towards accredited and experienced practicing professionals who are encountering an increased demand for specialized skills and knowledge unique to the area of governance and accountability.
Note: The MFAc Program accepts applications for Fall, Winter and Summer admission.
Within the MFAc there is the possibility of a Practicum – a unpaid or paid internship - which fulfills the requirements of an elective. The Practicum comprises our practicum course (FACC 6850 – Financial Accountability Practicum) which is a double credit and also includes full or part time employment. If you wish to take this MFAc with Practicum program then you should indicate this at the time you apply. Your application for the MFAc with Practicum will be considered at the same time as your MFAc application. For those accepted into the MFAc with Practicum, a co-op work permit is required and can be most efficiently applied for at the same time as your study permit (see https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/intern.html). If you wish to request admission into the MFAc with Practicum program later, you can still apply after you arrive in Canada.
