The department of law was established in 2013 according to the statement of the ministry of higher education and scientific research No. 2677IE on 26/5/2013. The number of admitted students was 242 in the academic year 2013-2014. After the occupation of the city of Mosul by ISIS, the department changed its location to (Shaikahn) town. The number of graduated students was (190). Then the department settled back to Bartella in 2022-2023 and continued registering students.
