The Applied Science University (ASU) is located in East Al-Ekir, Kingdom of Bahrain.
Established in 2004, ASU was one of the first private universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is situated in the Central Governorate, between Manama and Riffa.
The Applied Science University offers 18 (undergraduate and postgraduate) programs, with more than 5,000 alumni, and staff from over 22 countries. The university offers two international Engineering programs from well-respected university in the United Kingdom -London South Bank University (LSBU).
ASU achieved 4 Stars in QS Stars Rating System; ranked 29th in the QS Arab Region University Rankings; Ranked 101-150 in QS World University Ranking – Top 50 under 50.
The programs are taught in both English and Arabic. The university also has its English Language Unit, offering supplementary English language courses for those who wish to improve and enhance their English language skills and prepare them for the higher education system.

The typical admissions criteria for
students are as follows:
Undergraduate courses:
- Students must obtain secondary school certificate or its equivalent certified by the ministry of education in the Kingdom of Bahrain
Postgraduate courses:
- Students must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a university or college recognized by the ministry of education in the kingdom of Bahrain
Scholarships are available to all eligible students.
For bachelor’s programs the students above 90% are eligible for a partial scholarship up to 30% for the first semester of studies.
ASU also supports students in international programs hosted by British Universities with an Academic Excellence scholarship which is divided into three categories depending on merit level achieved upon high school graduation.
