We live in an age of information. Every single day, hundreds of terabytes of new data are generated. New websites and e-books are published, and billions of interactions between people and computers take place on the internet. It is far too much for any individual human to make sense of, but the Information Resource Management program teaches students how to use emerging technologies like artificial intelligence to collect, manage, analyze and visualize this vast and ever-expanding trove of information.
Students earn a Bachelor of Information Technology from Carleton and a Library and Information Technician diploma from Algonquin College. You’ll learn the skills you need to thrive in a data-rich environment, such as data analytics and AI, all grounded in traditional library and information science principles.
Labs and Facilities
Information Resource Management students benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities, including a dedicated 24/7 computer lab equipped with industry-standard software to support skill development.
Co-op
Carleton offers students a paid Co-op option with work terms of 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16 months.
Work Experience
Ottawa is home to one of Canada’s largest concentrations of government agencies and high-tech companies. Students will have access to opportunities that connect them with organizations that play a unique role in managing the data of all Canadians.
