Students who love both engineering and physics can pursue an engineering physics major offered jointly by the Department of Engineering Sciences and the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Engineering physics majors are expected to have a basic understanding of calculus, physics, chemistry, and computer science. First-year students interested in the major should take the placement test in mathematics. The Engineering Physics Major must be a 5/5 split of 10 courses between Engineering Sciences and Physics. Students must have completed their secondary school education and have subsequently enrolled at a college or university and earned credit, in order to be considered for transfer admission. Students are admitted to the freshman class on the basis of strong academic performance in a rigorous course of college preparatory study, especially in the areas of math and science; The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of transfer applicants whose native language is not English and who have not been studying in an English-speaking country for two years or more. Students should have SAT or ACT Test for the admission.
