The DLSMHSI Doctor of Medicine Program is a 4-year post-baccalaureate program consisting of basic sciences and clinical courses embedded in an integrated curriculum that is outcome-based, problem and community-oriented, delivered in four (4) years or structured teaching-learning activities. This program provides quality medical education that promotes academic excellence, scholastic diligence, scientific attitudes, and relevant experience. It offers an integrated curriculum that is problem- and community-oriented.
The curriculum promotes the use of clinical teaching materials based on its milieu, a holistic approach to the treatment of patients, and respect for patient’s rights and dignity. The graduates are encouraged to exemplify in their lives a Christian consciousness, the highest standard of moral values, and ethics in their training and practice of medicine.
The graduates are expected to be prepared for complete clinical practice in specialization, research, teaching, and service to their fellow men and women regardless of race, creed, or socioeconomic status. Furthermore, The Doctor of Medicine program also provides comprehensive extension services and undertakes socially relevant research with emphasis on the utility of traditional and herbal medicine, infectious diseases and tropical medicine, malnutrition, community mental health, and trauma care.
