East West University

East West University (EWU), founded in September 1996, is one of Bangladesh’s leading private universities. It offers a vibrant and diverse academic experience through 13 departments and a wide range of programs, including 15 undergraduate, 11 graduate, and 2 diploma programs, serving more than 16,000 students. A committed team of full-time and adjunct faculty members, supported by dedicated administrative staff, works together to deliver high-quality, student-centered education.

EWU upholds a steadfast commitment to academic excellence. The Faculty of Business and Economics is accredited by the ACBSP, while the Business Administration program in Accounting holds ACCA accreditation, enhancing the global competitiveness of its graduates. The university is also affiliated with the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute. Under The Faculty of Science & Engineering, the Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Civil Engineering programs are accredited by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education, and their graduates are recognized by the full signatories of the Washington Accord, reflecting EWU’s commitment to internationally aligned, high-quality education. The university actively builds partnerships with institutions and industries both in Bangladesh and abroad. Recent collaborations with the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), Macquarie University (Australia), Okayama Shoka University (Japan), and Emporia State University (USA) strengthened its global academic engagement.

EWU fosters a strong research culture and encourages faculty to publish in globally recognized academic journals. The East West University Centre for Research and Training supports this mission by providing grants for impactful research. Notable faculty achievements include the Prime Minister Gold Medal, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer recognition, University Grants Commission Awards, the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Gold Medal, ACBSP Teaching Excellence Award, Distinguished Senior Research Fellow title, and various other international research fellowships. Many faculty members are also Editors of prestigious local and international journals. In 2025, EWU attained substantial external competitive funding that enabled new research initiatives and further elevated academic quality.

The university’s green landscape and red-bricked architecture reflect its dedication to environmental responsibility, supported by initiatives such as tree-planting programs, plastic-pollution awareness campaigns, eco-fairs, and international collaborations with leading Korean organizations like KOICA and DAEJAYON. It has a permanent Socio-Psyche Counselling Center, run by trained counsellor psychologists, to support students dealing with stress, depression, anxiety, and other mental-health challenges. EWU promotes comprehensive wellness initiatives for the greater community as well. It supports inclusive initiatives for children with special needs and organizes humanitarian initiatives like blood donation drives for underprivileged children with thalassemia. Through active student club initiatives, students engage in projects related to environmental protection, along with community awareness programs regarding the use of eco-friendly products, marine conservation, and sustainable blue-economy practices.

EWU places strong emphasis on career readiness, and its Skills for Employment Investment Program offers targeted, industry-driven training in partnership with governmental institutions and leading organizations. The university also hosts regular workshops on professional skills and sector-specific training sessions to prepare students for real-world challenges. Job Fair 2025 further expanded opportunities by connecting students with top employers, enabling them to explore career options and build meaningful networks.
