East West University

East West University (EWU) started its journey in September 1996 with 4 departments, 6 faculty members and 20 students at Mohakhali campus. Now it has its own beautiful campus at Aftabnagar, Dhaka on 7.9 bighas of land and also it has three buildings within walking distance from the main campus. A total of 14 departments are offering 13 undergraduate and 13 graduate programs. Out of 302 full-time faculty members, there are 21 professors and 72 Ph.D. teachers. At present, there are 269 officers and supporting staff altogether.  EWU is the only private university that has received the ICT Digital World Award 2017. The year of 2016 marked an important moment for East-West University. EWU has received the Permanent Certificate ( one of the two universities from 105 private universities) upon fulfilling all the requirements recommended by the Government of Bangladesh. This university is one of two universities out of 105 private universities that have received this certificate. EWU has established an Executive Development Center (EDC) under the support development partner of a project of the Government of Bangladesh, 'Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP)'. EDC is now offering a nine-month graduate diploma program. Chairperson and members of the Board of Trustees have been serving EWU with vision, enthusiasm and steadfast dedication since its establishment. The members of the Board of Trustees, faculty members, officers, and supporting staff are working with unstinting goodwill and cooperation. It is the people of EWU who make this EWU such a wonderful institution.

 We are squarely focused on establishing EWU as the institution of choice for excellence in learning, teaching, and research and ensuring a high-quality, career-relevant education that prepares students with skills that today’s employers seek. We understand that a university’s role is now not only to impart knowledge but also to develop a holistic approach for producing value-oriented individuals for useful living within society.

The University comprises a distinctive intellectual community. Each member of the University community contributes to the research, education, engagement, and the impact that defines the University and has a meaningful influence on the home and abroad. Our three faculty members received Prime Minister Gold Medals, Two members were editor of the world-class Journal IEEE transaction on Electron Devices and One faculty member is an IEEE distinguished lecturer, three members received UGC best paper awards, three members received Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) Gold Medal and three members have jointly received the United Group Paper Award 2016. One member was an associate member of Nobel Laureate Dr. Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics at Trieste, Italy and he has also received ASIA EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AWARD 2016.

Our Center for Research and Training (CRT) and the Centre for Urban Studies and Sustainable Development (CUSSD) are playing a vital role in establishing a research environment at EWU.   CRT and CUSSD are funding a good number of research projects.  

We have a reputation for awarding huge scholarships (BDT 110,000,000.00 = ($1309523) annually for meritorious students and also need-based financial assistance.
