The department of Civil at East West University Engineering practices Outcome Based Education (OBE) as recommended by the BAETE and UGC. Our faculty members are highly qualified and our laboratories are well equipped with modern instruments. Our approach is highly collaborative with the practical one, and we stress the exploration of innovative and even unconventional ideas.
Civil Engineering is one of the most comprehensive branches of the Engineering discipline which service to people and the surroundings in which they live more closely. Civil Engineering is related to whatever serves for human life, either directly or indirectly such as services relating to Structures, Roads, Water-Supply and Sewerage systems, Environment, Surveying works etc. Civil Engineering links all the stages of these services project works starting with the Idea, Studies and Planning, Design and Stipulations, Execution (Implementation) or (Construction Stage), Site Supervision and Operation and Maintenance. The tasks of Engineering Management for construction projects are assigned mostly to Civil Engineers.
At the Department of Civil Engineering, students complete theoretical study with the best practices in teaching & learning methodologies and practical experience using state of the art facilities and laboratories for all the branches of Civil Engineering such as, Concrete and Structural Engineering, Soil and Geotechnical Engineering, Highways and Transportation Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials and Construction Engineering, Surveying and Geomatics Engineering.

Admission Requirements
- Minimum GPA of 3.00 in both SSC and HSC Examinations. (Minimum GPA 2.40 in Diploma In Engineering under Bangladesh Technical Education Board). or
- Candidates must have passed University of London and Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level in at least five subjects and ‘A’ Level in at least two subjects. Only the best five subjects in ‘O’ Level and best two subjects in ‘A’ Level will be considered. Out of these seven subjects, a candidate must have at least 4B’s or GPA of 4.00 in the four subjects and 3 C’s or GPA of 3.5 in the remaining three subjects. (in the scale of =4, =2 and
- American High School Diploma, AND
- Acceptable EWU Admission Test Score.
- Total GPA of 5.00 in both SSC and HSC Examinations for the children of Freedom Fighter.
- The final selection of candidates for admission in the Undergraduate Programs at EWU will be based on the Admission Test scores obtained with 75% from admission test, 10% from SSC/O-level and 15% from HSC/A-level.
