Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology with concentrations in clinical psychology and social psychology, requires students to have a strong background in basic sciences, mathematics, critical thinking skills, and command over the  English language, essential for optimal attainment of the academic goals and program learning outcomes. The curriculum offered by the Department of Psychology consists of several components that give students the opportunity to build a solid foundation in psychology, obtain field experience in the mental health, social and community services settings,  and gain insight into the professional and ethical standards required for the practice in various sub-fields of psychology.

Students concentrating in Clinical Psychology will be introduced to important topics in the clinical psychology field, such as psychopathology, psychological interventions, psychology of ageing, child clinical psychology, psychopharmacology, and ethics in research and practice.

Students in the  Social Psychology area will be acquainted with subjects such as social factors and wellbeing, stress, coping and mental health, attitudes and persuasion, and research methods in social psychology. Students will obtain the necessary knowledge to understand the impact of theories and applications of clinical and social psychology in a global, social, and environmental context.​​

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology at Effat University will provide students with world-class education, the needed skills, and a global outlook to scrutinize social and psychological issues pertinent to their own countries and transnationally, and help promote socio-psychological well-being among the community. The Program aims to train students to be critical thinkers, ethical researchers, compassionate, responsible and motivated employees and global citizens.

The Psychology Program at Effat University, which consists of 126 credit hours delivered over 4 years (8 semesters), has been developed and reviewed through an academic partnership with the Department of Psychology at  Carnegie Mellon University​ ​ ​​​of USA.
