This degree is designed for those who want to inspire children and help them achieve their potential as primary teachers. Student will spend time in each year of their degree observing and working with students in school classrooms. Students will develop their own teaching identity and learn how to use their own individual skills to support student learning, develop a deep understanding of childhood development, educational theories and practice. Students will also learn how to engage children in innovative and purposeful learning. Students can choose from the following electives to choose from to tailor this degree: for Ballarat and Gippsland Campuses - Maths, Science, English Literature/Writing and an Inclusive Education stream; for Berwick Campus (domestic students only) -Mathematics, Science, Information & Communication Technologies, Student Welfare, Disability Studies, Humanities (History, Social Geography, Indigenous Studies), English/Literature, and Psychological Studies. Students are required to complete a minimum of 80 days of supervised teaching practice during the four years of their degree. Completing this program will qualify graduates to teach primary students up to Year 6. This degree has been accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
