The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree is designed for students preparing for careers such as medicine, dentistry, environmental studies, veterinary medicine, patent law, secondary science education or forensic chemistry. The Chemical Education Major allows students to meet all the requirements for full certification to teach 6-12 in the State of Florida. Students may work with the Department's faculty members, many of whom are interdisciplinary in their training and interests and teach in several fields, in their research labs. Some present the result of their research at national conferences and publish them in chemistry journals. This program is designed for students preparing for careers in medicine, dentistry, environmental studies, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, patent law, forensic science, or secondary science education. The BA - Chemistry program is organized into four alternative areas of concentration. Students may choose to follow the Standard BA-Chemistry Concentration or - in consultation with an advisor - choose a specific area of emphasis: the Biochemistry Concentration, the Environmental Chemistry Concentration, or the Forensic Chemistry Concentration.
