The Veterinary Physiotherapy degree is an exciting new addition to Harper Adams’ range of courses. This course would be of interest to students who have a passion for caring for animals, enjoy interacting with animal owners, the veterinary profession and others involved in the care and treatment of animals. Physiotherapists analyse and assess animals’ posture, movement and locomotory function, and treat musculo-skeletal problems such as muscular damage, back pain, fractures, some neurological conditions and sporting injuries. Physiotherapy can also help animals recover following surgery, and enhance working or athletic ability. Physiotherapists often work with a range of animals, from horses to dogs, cats and occasionally livestock. This programme is accredited by the Animal Health Professions’ Register (AHPR) (AHPR). This programme satisfies the requirements of the Animal Health Professions’ Register and recognised for membership by the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists (NAVP). This will give graduates the opportunity to register directly with the AHPR and join NAVP. In addition to the clinical practice elements within the programme graduates will need to satisfy the additional professional requirements as set out by the AHPR and NAVP. Students that do not satisfy these requirements as embedded within the programme may be awarded one of the interim awards identified as appropriate to their completed study.
