IUE is a non-profit foundation university recognized by Higher Education Council of Türkiye (YÖK). The medium of instruction at IUE is English for all programs except the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Law.

In the 2021-2022 academic year, IUE has over 10,000 students enrolled in associate, undergraduate, and graduate degree programs in an extensive variety of fields in eight faculties, two schools, three vocational schools, and one graduate school. https://www.ieu.edu.tr/en/students

IUE is in cooperation with 200+ universities globally. IUE seeks to expand its international relations with other higher education institutions all around the world.

In 2010, IUE received the "Diploma Supplement Label", which is awarded by the European Commission and is accepted as a measure of the quality of education in universities, providing international credibility to higher education institutions. IUE is one of the three foundation universities in Türkiye to have been awarded this certificate.

In 2011, IUE was awarded the ECTS Label, an award of excellence given by the European Commission, for its academic programs created in accordance with the Bologna Process and academic work carried out in this regard. This certificate was awarded to three universities in Türkye in 2011, with IUE being the only foundation university among them. IUE restructured its curricula in alignment with the European and National Qualifications frameworks, and within the scope of the Bologna Process, implementing curricula compatible with the ECTS system as of the 2010-2011 academic year.  

At IUE 12 out of 34 undergraduate programs have received formal accreditation. Additionally, accreditation has been received by the Prep Program within the IUESchool of Foreign Languages, as well as the Tourism and Hotel Management Program in the Vocational School.

The annual tuition and fees for international students at IUE is 10,000USD for bachelor programs and 4,000USD for short-cycle programs . Tuition and fees for the Faculty of Medicine is 17,250 USD.
