After its establishment in 1979, the Department of Mathematics has produced 1,300 graduates in various fields of education, finance, and data processing by providing education on pure and applied mathematics. As the role of mathematics has extended to various fields of future industries including big data and artificial intelligence, the world is needs talented individuals with mathematic knowledge who can quickly adapt to new industrial environments. Accordingly, the Department of Mathematics strives to train the advanced manpower of mathematics sought by various fields of modern society to accomplish its objective of fostering future talents with creative problem-solving abilities, critical mindsets, and practical abilities as well as basic and applied knowledge of mathematics.
