Kazan State Power Engineering University is one of three state specialized power engineering institutions of higher learning in the Russian Federation (the other two being Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University) and Ivanovo State Power Engineering University) and occupies one of the leading places in the region in education, availability of technical equipment and conditions of scientific research and study process. The university trains specialists in 14 directions of preparing bachelors and masters, and in 11 directions of training specialists (31 specialties) on full time, evening and correspondence forms of study.

For foreign citizens who arrived to study at KSPEU, mandatory check of entry documents (passport, migration card and entry visa) is carried out at the international department. An applicant for the first year of study has the right to submit an application to KSPEU and participate in the competition simultaneously in three areas of training (specialties), groups of areas of training (specialties) for various forms of education, in which the main educational programs are implemented at KSPEU, as well as simultaneously for budget places and to places under contracts with payment the cost of training. Foreign citizens who have certificates of the results of the unified state exam have the right to enter the KSPEU on the basis of its results. Applicants have the right to send an application for admission to the first year, as well as the necessary documents through public postal operators
