Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies majors are exposed to ideas across the liberal arts curriculum through lecture, laboratory, seminars, field and library research, and an intensive exposure to the digital world. Perspectives gained are interdisciplinary and range from local to global and emphasize the management and solution of environmental problems and development of a sustainable way of life. Students desiring a career in an environmentally related field, or who intend on pursuing graduate work in environmental studies, are strongly encouraged to take additional laboratory courses in the natural sciences, especially chemistry. A successful career in the environmental field will require that the student have a thorough background in laboratory science, social science, statistics, computing, and have strong communication skills.
